| Polycarbonate is a tough, dimensionally stable, transparent thermoplastic that has many applications where high performance properties are required. Wide range of temperatures from -40°F to 280°F and can take the greatest impact of any thermoplastic. Transparent up to 2" in special grades, outstanding dimensional and thermal stability, exceptional machinability, stain resistant and non-toxic with low water absorption. Unnotched polycarbonate is virtually unbreakable, making it extremely safe in areas where parts may be exposed to impact. When exposed to repeated heavy blows, the material tends to cold form rather than shatter. Bonding Polycarbonate can be mechanically bonded or cemented using a solvent such as methylene chloride or adhesives such as epoxy, urethane and silicone. Machinability Its unique properties permit it to be machined without chipping, splitting, or breaking. No special tools are needed, and finished parts can be polished to a high gloss. Water or water-soluble cutting oils should be used when machining since some standard cutting oils will attack the material. MAKROLON AR (Abrasion Resistant) Offers UV resistance, glass-like surface hardness, high impact strength, and excellent chemical resistance,
making it an outstanding choice for flat, non-curved machine guards. MAKROLON FD (Food Grade) Non-UV stabilized polycarbonate sheet complies with FDA (21 CFR 177.1580) and NSF Standard 51 requirements. Close
gauge tolerance control combined with high impact strength and heat resistance makes MAKROLON FD ideally suited for demanding applications in the medical and food equipment industries. MAKROLON FI (Flame
Inhibiting) Flame inhibiting polycaronbate sheet is formulated for use in electronic devices or other applications requiring increased flame resistance.
Makrolon FI offers a UL94 VO rating in gauges greater than .060”. MAKROLON GP (General Purpose) The staple product of the industrial product line, MAKROLON GP is UV-stabilized and incorporates both economy and high performance in every sheet. One attribute that sets makrolon GP apart from the competition is the UL 94 VO rating on
gauges .220” and greater. MAKROLON GP has been proven cost effective in a wide range of industrial and design applications. MAKROLON MG (Machine Grade) Machine grade polycaronbate engineering plate features extremely high impact strength, outstanding dimensional stability, and the lowest internal stress and inclusion levels when compared to any other products in its class. The lower internal stress and reduced inclusion levels will save you time and money by reducing your fabrication process. MAKROLON MG is an excellent material for prototyping parts before injection molding. MAKROLON OP (Optical Grade) Clear, polished surface, UV-stabilized polycarbonate sheet provides high performance coupled with excellent optical clarity. Used in premium visual applications, MAKROLON OP meets or exceeds requirements for products in its class. MAKROLON GP P12 (Prismatic Pattern) Prismatic pattern polycaronbate sheet is UV-stabilized and UL 94 V2 rated in
gauges .125” and greater. The prismatic pattern offers superb diffusion and hiding power, along with a
reflective index of 1.586 (ASTM D542). MAKROLON SL (Sign Grade) Enhanced UV resistance polycarbonate sheet offers exceptional weatherability. Superior impact strength and formability makes this product an ideal choice for exterior factory/plant glazing; guards used in outdoor equipment; or other applications requiring increased weatherability and UV resistance. Standard Sheet Sizes are 4 x 8, 6 x 8, 6 x 10. Roll stock available upon request. Polycarbonate tubing available from 1/4 to 8” ID. MAKROLON Multiwall Sheet is made from light-transmitting, weather-resistant, impact
resistant polycarbonate from Bayer, MAKROLON Multiwall sheet offers a 10 year non-prorated warranty against loss of light transmission and yellowing in
accordance to ASTM D-1003 thanks to the co-extruded UV protected polycarbonate layer
fused to the polycarbonate substrate of the sheet. In addition MAKROLON Multiwall No-Drop Sheet offers a coated surface to
eliminate water condensation and carries a 10 year non-pro-rated warranty on its anti-fog performance and its impact resistance to hail damage. MAKROLON Multiwall is 300 times higher in impact resistance than glass and 30 times higher than acrylic AND 16 times lighter than glass. This twin wall sheet can be cold formed for applications such as tunnel-shaped greenhouses and skylights in halls. |
