Material Information Sheet
PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) offers excellent corrosion and weather resistance. It has a high strength-to-weight ratio and is a good electrical and thermal insulator. PVC is also self-extinguishing per UL flammability tests. PVC may be used to temperatures of 140F (60C) and is readily available in sheets, rods, and tubing. PVC may be cemented, welded, machined, bent and shaped readily. The most common advantages of PVC are: (1) Corrosion resistant to a wide range of alkalis and acids; (2) Heat resistant in addition to maximum corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures; (3) Self-extinguishing and will not support combustion; and (4) Good electrical insulation properties.

CPVC (Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride) exhibits excellent corrosion resistance to a wide range of alkalis and acids, and is highly heat resistant. An easily fabricated engineering plastic, CPVC can be thermo-formed, threaded, riveted, and can be bonded and welded. CPVC is used in numerous industries: Chemical processing, metal anodizing and finishing, waste treatment, including gas scrubbing. Common applications include: Bushings, spacers, valves, pipe fittings, liners, plating tank insulators, drip racks, self-supporting tanks and rollers.   UPVC (Unplasticized Polyvinyl Chloride) is characterized by great chemical inertia and is attacked solely by strong oxidizing agents such as concentrated nitric and sulphuric acids and also by aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, ketones, esters, and amines. However it is resistant to most other organic liquids as well as concentrations of liquid saline solutions. Flammability UPVC will burn in flame but since chlorine is a constituent it will extinguish itself immediately upon removal of flame. Heat Resistance: The temperature range of UPVC is between 250-280F. At this temperature the material resembles resilient rubber. UPVC sheets will shrink approximately 2-3% in the longitudinal direction, and 1% in the traverse direction, with the thickness increasing slightly. Common applications include linings for tanks, exhaust hoods and stacks, sulfuric acid equipment plating vessels. UPVC is used widely in the photographic industry for developing tanks and other apparatus. UPVC pipe is now being used for draining, sewers and plumbing in construction of homes and industrial buildings. Sizes UPVC Sheets (4’ x 8’): 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 1, 1.25, 1.5, 1 3/4, 2” UPVC Rod 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 7/8, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10”.

Excelon Vinyl Tubing, other than industrial grades, are guaranteed to be non-toxic - odourless - tasteless and have no leachable waxes or stabilizers to effect food. The highly polished bore prevents sediment build up and facilitates easy cleaning. Such has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, U.S.A. Department of Health, Education and Welfare and are used in many hospitals, universities, medical schools, heart clinics, and laboratories throughout Canada and the United States.

Vinyl PVC Door Strip Material is recommended for most standard indoor/outdoor applications. Partitions made of PVC are extremely effective sound barriers. In addition to noise reduction and positive temperature control, PVC doors restrict the flow of dust, smoke, fumes and other airborne particles, yet still provide exceptional light transmittance and visibility. Cold Temperature PVC Door Strip is USDA approved and specifically formulated for use in areas where temperatures are maintained at sub-freezing levels. PVC provides most of the benefits of standard material with one additional important property: it will maintain utmost flexibility and, therefore, effectiveness, at temperatures as low as -40oF. This makes PVC especially suitable for applications in freezer rooms and cold storage areas. It is not recommended for outdoor use since it contains no UV stabilizers. Welding Grade PVC Door Strip is designed to protect against undue exposure to harmful ultraviolet rays for those adjacent to welding operations. The amber-coloured PVC material limits potentially dangerous UV rays, yet still allows visible supervision of the welding area, and thus creates an overall safer work environment. Like all PVC material it is flame retardant and will safely contain sparks and other flying particles. Safety Grade PVC Door Strip is identical to the Standard PVC Door Strip, except that it is translucent red in colour making it ideal for marking of door jambs as a visible indicator to vehicle operators, or to section off wide openings to indicate pedestrian walkways.
